People ask me: “What makes you different from other Pilates teachers?”

The reality is that all Pilates teachers are different; we bring to Pilates everything we have experienced and all that has led us to becoming a Pilates teacher.  It’s important that you find a Pilates teacher that is right for you.

I left university with a completely different degree to the one I’d started three years before and had no idea what to do with my life. Initially I worked as a store manager for Tesco but couldn’t get excited about sales so I left and became a Teaching Assistant supporting children with physical, behavioural and learning difficulties instead and I absolutely loved it! It reignited my love of both teaching and learning and I trained to become a secondary school teacher.  In the years that followed I progressed from an English teacher to an Assistant Headteacher and even took on the role as Interim Headteacher for a while.

Then one day I realised that I had burned out: years of working fifteen hour days and getting up at 4:30am so that I could go for a run or do a HIIT class before work had taken their toll - I had pneumonia (again), the disc bulge in my fractured neck was agonising and I was far from present.  I wanted to find my happiness and learn to put it first.

Pilates (along with my dog) became my therapy - I attended regular classes, bought myself some small equipment and started practising it at home too.  Physically - my strength improved, my endurance improved, my posture improved, and my neck and lower back were no longer causing debilitating pain.  Mentally - I gained confidence, I felt less stressed, and I became more present.  Socially - I met people from all walks of life who I otherwise may not have been fortunate enough to have spent time with.  Having spent my life doing mindless exercise, I was now reaping the benefits of a more holistic approach that was positively impacting all aspects of my life.  Why wouldn’t I want to help others experience this?  I completed my Pilates teacher training and ‘Move Efficiently’ was born.

My work is personal to me and I want to get to know you.  The more I know you and your lifestyle, the better I can help you to achieve your goals and feel your best.  My aim is for you to feel confident that you are moving efficiently and taking the best care of yourself inside and outside of Pilates.
